WORK ATTIRE - part 2

And now the items - E adesso capo per capo
1 – Colors	1 - Colori
Whatever is your job, plain and neutral color are always the best choice. You can wear tone on tone clothing or just  add a bold color to the ensemble.  Wear black, blue, all shades of gray, beige but light them up with a spout  of color.	Qualunque sia il vostro lavoro, tinta unita e toni naturali sono la  scelta più azzeccata.  Potete vestire tono su tono o azzardare aggiungere un colore d’effetto all'insieme. Indossate il nero, il blue, tutte le sfumature del grigio,  il beige ma ravvivateli con una spruzzata di colore.
2 – Bag	2 - Borsa
The bigger the better. It doesn’t matter if you simply take with you your credit card, phone and keys: you necessitate a huge bag. You may need to take home a few documents or maybe you are wearing high heels and you will need a pair of flats to walk back home. Whatever the reason, a big bag is the one thing that, no matter what style are you in, you will need. Leather or plastic, classic or not, buy your work-bag like you have bring with you a small piece of home.	Più grande è meglio è. Non importa se vi portate solo la carta di credito, il telefono e le chiavi: vi serve una borsa grande. Potreste dover portare del lavoro a casa oppure indossate tacchi alti ed avrete bisogno di indossare delle ballerine per tornare a casa. Quale che sia la ragione, una borsa grande è la cosa che, indipendentemente dal vostro stile, vi servirà.  Pelle o plastica, classica o no, comprate la vostra borsa da lavoro come se doveste portarvi dietro mezza casa.
3 – Shoes Invest on a good pair of shoes, you’ll spend from 6 to 10 hours in them. Basically shoes must match the style of your outfit. Pencil skirts call for high heels but a pair of jeans or drain pipes looks good with both heels and flats. Never put heels if you choose flared trousers: wedge heels, flats or sneakers are the only good choices. Remember that bold painted shoes are just perfect with a very simple outfit. One last suggestion, don’t pair a sheath dress  with high heels unless you want to look very elegant or very formal. Also, this year the brogues shoes are back, in neutral or eccentric colors, they are always comfortable and stylish. Remember to  only wear them with drain pipes, they could make your look slightly androgynous but, with the right chemise, you will look smart-elegant!	3 - Scarpe Investite in un paio di scarpe buone, le indosserete per circa 6-10 ore. In sostanza le scarpe devono essere abbinate al vostro outfit. Le gonne a tubino andrebbero abbinate con i tacchi alti ma un paio di jeans o di pantaloni a sigaretta stanno bene sia con i tacchi sia con un paio di ballerine. Mai mettere i tacchi alti sotto i pantaloni a zampa: zeppe, ballerine o scarpe da ginnastica sono le uniche alternative possibili. Ricordate che scarpe dai colori accesi vanno solo su outfit lineari. Un ultimo suggerimento, non abbinate il  tubino con i tacchi alti a mano che non vogliate apparire eleganti o formali. Inoltre, quest’anno sono tornate di moda le scarpe scozzesi. In colori neutri o eccentrici, sono sempre comode e piene di stile. Ricordate di indossarle solo con i pantaloni a sigaretta, possono rendere il vostro look vagamente androgino ma, con la giusta camicia, apparirete smart-elegant!
4 – Trousers	4 - Pantaloni
Pants are the hardest thing to buy. This item reveals, more than others, your likings. First of all, you must think about how many hours you will be sitting, if it’s more than 3 hours, you’ll need to buy them elastics or comfortable. Just remember to add the right shoes: they may completely change the way your outfit comes out.  High waist trousers are a good choice since are fashionable and comfortable and (the 70s are back, remember?) are must-have for this fall/winter 2015. If you love jeans, you must go for the dark wash ones, they’ll  appear more professional. Colored pants are very pretty but you must pair them with neutral color or a blouse tone on tone, better if with a patterned one. Just remember never to pair them with shirts  in the same color or you’ll look like a walking pencil.	I pantaloni sono la cosa più difficile da comprare. Questo indumento rivela, più di altri, le vostre preferenze. Innanzitutto, dovete pensare a quante ore passerete sedute, se sono più di tre, avete bisogno di pantaloni elasticizzati o comodi. Ricordate solamente di aggiungere le scarpe giuste, altrimenti potrebbero rovinare la riuscita del vostro outfit. I pantaloni a vita alta sono una buona scelta visto che sono alla moda, comodi e che (sono tornati gli anni ’70, ve lo ricordate?) sono un must have dell’ A/I 2015. Se vi piacciono i jeans, dovete optare per il lavaggio scuro, risultano più professionali. I pantaloni colorati sono molto graziosi ma dovete abbinarli a capi dai colori neutri oppure ad una camicia tono su tono, meglio se con una fantasia a disegni. Semplicemente ricordate di non indossarli con maglie dello stesso colore o sembrerete dei pennarelli ambulanti.
5 – Skirts	5 - Gonne
Skirts are tricky, beware. They can make your look stunning or ghastly. Remember that you’ll probably have to sit down so the skirt must be longuette or flared. The kind of skirt you choose may depend from both your very own style or the day you have planned. I mean, romantic girls will probably choose colorful flared skirts and pair them with soft blouses and sparkly accessories but could decide to wear a black pencil skirt for un important meeting in order to look more professional. Pencil skirt, though,  are not only for straight business moments, meetings or formal moments. If you like them you need to find a way to make them appear less formal. A patterned skirt will indeed play down  your look and make you look stylish.   One more thing, my beloved Cinderellas, don’t wear the pencil skirt with high heels if you don’t want to seem to be too formal, a twee pair of shoes may be, in the end, the right compromise.	Le gonne sono insidiose. State attente. Possono fare apparire il vostro look meraviglioso oppure orribile. Ricordate che probabilmente vi dovrete sedere,  quindi sceglietele longuette oppure scampanate.  Il tipo di gonna che scegliete può dipendere sia dal vostro stile personale, sia dalla giornata che vi aspetta. Voglio dire che, se siete delle persone romantiche, probabilmente propenderete per le gonne scampanate e colorate e le abbinerete con camicette morbide e  bigiotteria variopinta ma potreste comunque decidere di indossare una gonna a tubino ad un meeting per apparire più professionali. Le gonne a tubino, comunque sia, non sono semplicemente dei capi per il lavoro, le riunioni ed i momenti formali.  Se vi piacciono dovete semplicemente trovare un modo di farle apparire meno formali. Una stoffa a disegni può sicuramente sdrammatizzare questo capo  e vi farà apparire piene di stile. Un’ultima cosa mie care Cenerentole, non indossate le gonne a tubino con i tacchi se non volete apparire troppo formali, un paio di scarpe vezzose, in fin dei conti,  potrebbe essere il giusto compromesso.
6 – Dresses	6 - Vestiti
If you are late a dress is always your best choice: you only need to accessorize it.  How formal or cheerfoul it will be depends on you not your work. Even a fuxia dress, with the right accessories accessories, can be classy and fashion. Change your shoes and necklace and you’ll be ready for the evening. Remember, like the skirts they must be at least knee long. Do I have to tell you the neckline cannot be plunging?	Se siete in ritardo, un vestito è sempre la scelta migliore: avete solo bisogno di accessoriarlo.  Quanto serioso o allegro dipenderà dal vostro tipo di impiego. Anche un vestito fucsia, con l'accessorio giusto, può essere dfi classe ed alla moda. Cambiate le scarpe e la collana e sarete pronte per la serata. Ricordate che, come le gonne, devono essere lunghe almeno fino al ginocchio. C'è davvero bisogno che vi dica che la scollatura non deve essere profonda?
7 – Jackets	7 - Giacche
Nothing says “I’m going to work” like a tailored jacket. It is your business card. It can make look more professional even if paired with a pair of leggings or jeans. You need to have at the very least two of them in your closet, one in black (you will need it eventually), and one in a more cheerful color so you may look business-like but not too severe. Even though you don’t need to wear a suit jacket in your line of work I suggest you to buy one anyway.	Niente dice “Sto andando al lavoro” come una giacca su misura. È il vostro biglietto da visita. Può far apparire più professionali anche un paio di leggings o di jeans.  Dovreste avere almeno due nel vostro armadio, una nera (potrebbe sempre servire), ed una di un colore più frizzante così che possiate essere vestita in maniera adatta per il lavoro ma non siate troppo seriose. Anche se non vi serve una giacca da completo per il lavoro, vi suggerirei comunque di acquistarne una.
So, you may not need this specific jacket but what about cardigans? You’ll probably need one of those when you leave work to go home of if the day gets cold all of the sudden. Cardigans are charming pieces of clothing, they come in all colors and are wondrous with statement accessorizes. If you have a big bag (I hope you do), you can bring it with you and just throw it on your shoulders in the evening and, by adding a few touches, change your appearance and be ready to go out with your friends.	Magari non vi serve questo particolare  tipo di giacca ma dei cardigan cosa ne pensate? Potrebbero servirvi quando uscite dal lavoro per andare a casa o se la giornata dovesse farsi fredda all’improvviso. I cardigan sono dei meravigliosi capi di abbigliamento, ci sono di tutti i colori e sono spettacolari con accessori d’impatto. Se avete una borsa grande (e spero la abbiate), potete portarlo con voi ed indossarlo nel pomeriggio e, con qualche semplice tocco, cambiare il vostro aspetto ed essere pronte per una serata con le amiche.
8 -  Accessories	8 - Accessori
I won’t stop saying this: accessorize is the key to a good outfit. You need to either minimize them or wear bold ones, never mix them. Earrings should be small, necklaces can be long only if they doesn’t get in your way while you are typing or writing.  Bracelets are always  a good idea unless they make too much noise against your desk. Accessorize every time in a way that makes  you fashionable but free to move.	Non smetterò mai di dirlo: accessoriare è il segreto di un bell’outfit. Dovete indossare gioielli minimalisti oppure d’effetto ma mai mischiarli. Gli orecchini dovrebbero essere piccoli, le collane possono essere lunghe ma solo se non vi ostacolano quando siete al computer o scrivete. I braccialetti sono sempre un’ottima idea a meno che non facciano troppo rumore contro la vostra scrivania. Accessoriatevi sempre ma in modo che non interferisca con i vostri movimenti.
9 – Blouses	9 - Camicette
Blouses are your best friends. You should by lots of them. Low cost brands offer them in so many colors an models you just have to pick the one (hopefully the ones) you like the most. They are easy to buy and to match. Just remember, if you have a colored pair of trousers go for a patterned fantasy or a plain basic color. Blouses are pretty versatile, you can mistake the color, not the style.	Le camicie sono le vostre migliori amiche. Dovreste comprarne in gran quantità. I marchi low cost le vendono in tante varianti di modelli e colori, dovete semplicemente scegliere quella (magari quelle) che preferite. Sono facili da comprare e facili da abbinare. Ricordate solamente che, se avete indossato un paio di pantaloni colorati dovete optare per una fantasia a disegni tinta su tinta oppure per la tinta unita. Le camicie sono piuttosto versatili, potete sbagliare il colore, non lo stile.

WORK ATTIRE - part 1

Hi girls, I work in an office and usually I’m a casual business person but, from time to time, I love dressing up a bit. Some days  you just need your outfit to speak for you. The trick is to make it also speak OF you. Bottom line is: does the way you have to dress at work  reflect your personality? Are you able to make the outfit speak for you even though you have to wear clothes that doesn’t really suit your true self?		Ciao ragazze, Io lavoro in un ufficio e di solito opto per un look casual business ma, di tanto in tanto, mi piace mettermi un pochino in tiro. Certi giorni il vostro abbigliamento deve parlare per voi. Il trucco è far si che riesca anche a  parlare DI voi. In sostanza: il modo in cui vi vestite per andare a lavorare riflette la vostra personalità? Sapete fare in modo che l’outfit che indossate vi rispecchi anche se dovete indossare abiti che hanno poco a che fare con il vostro modo di essere?
You know, in the Italian Renaissance painters were told what to paint but they always managed to make their work original and recognizable as theirs. It was what made them great. Think about portraits, for instance, you can easily tell a Leonardo from a Rafael. When it comes to dress for the office, your body is your canvas and your job is the one who commissioned the paint.  You need to show the word the artist you are. You should dress in the way you want your boss and colleagues to perceive you but you have to show that you also have a personality worth discovering.		Durante il Rinascimento, in Italia, ai pittori veniva commissionato il soggetto da dipingere ma loro riuscivano sempre a rendere il loro lavoro originale e riconoscibile. È questo ciò che li ha resi grandi. Pensate ad esempio ai ritratti, potete tranquillamente riconoscere un Leonardo da un Raffaello. Quando si tratta di vestirsi per l’ufficio, il vostro corpo è la tela e il lavoro il vostro commissionatore. Dovete mostrare l’artista che è in voi. Dovete vestirvi a seconda di come volete che il vostro capo e colleghi vi percepiscano ma dovete mostrare di avere una personalità che vale la pena scoprire.
There is the dress code but this are the few simple rules you cannot break: don’t mix and match more than four colors, if you wear a dress or a skirt remember it should be almost knee long, be simple and, last but not least, add accessories. Follow this simple rules and you can show your personality whilst wearing a fashionable work attire.		Esiste il codice di abbigliamento ma ci sono delle regole che non potete infrangere: non mischiare più di 4 colori, se indossate un vestito oppure una gonna ricordate che dovrebbe essere all’altezza del ginocchio, siate sobrie e, in ultimo ma non ultimo, accessoriate. Seguite queste semplici regole e potrete mostrare la vostra personalità mentre indossate un abbigliamento fashion per andare al lavoro.
MY PICKS
As I already told you, I work in an office. In my line of work the business code is BUSINESS CASUAL. I need to be slightly formal without overdoing it. I have to climb the stairs a few times a day so I usually avoid dresses or skits. I also sit down a lot so I like to wear elastic pants. The blouse is what does the trick, makes me feel comfortable and a little elegant. I add thin jewelry, a huge leather tote bag and a pair of flats. I dress a lot alike the photos here.
Come vi ho già detto, lavoro in un ufficio. Nella mia professione il codice di abbigliamento è BUSINESS CASUAL. Devo apparire un pizzico formale ma senza esagerare. Faccio le scale più volte al giorno evito gonne e vestiti.  Inoltre passo molto tempo seduta quindi prediligo i pantaloni elasticizzati. La camicia è la mia soluzione al problema, mi fa sentire al contempo comoda ed un pochino elegante. Aggiungo gioielli sobri, una borsa voluminosa e le ballerine. in sostanza mi vesto in maniera molto simile alla foto qui a fianco.

I decided to show you a few outfits that are perfect for the office but also give people an idea about the fashion style you love,  then I’ll go item by item ‘cause I think that when we go shopping for the office, we hardly buy a complete outfit but more likely a few items to match with the things we already have (and hopefully love) in our closets. No matter your preferences, my suggestion is this: go simple and never forget to accessorize. Here we go!		Ho pensato di mostrarvi alcuni abbinamenti perfetti per l’ufficio ma che diano inoltre alla gente un’idea su quale sia lo stile che amate,;quindi mi occuperò dei capi uno ad uno poiché ritengo che quando andiamo a fare shopping per l’ufficio, difficilmente compriamo un outfit completo ma piuttosto vari capi da abbinare agli indumenti che già possediamo (e si spera amiamo) nel nostro armadio. Non importa cosa preferiate, il mio suggerimento rimane: siate sobrie e non dimenticate gli accessori. Ci siamo!
