SEASONAL SHOPPING AND BODY ISSUES – WHAT REALLY MATTERS IS HOW WE FIT IN OUR OWN SKINS

Blogs all over the world show she-bloggers with deep pockets and tiny bodies. There are also bloggers who don’t wear the size 1 but are indeed really stylish. Both thin and overweight bloggers usually tell us where to buy the clothing they’re wearing. At the end of the day, all this bloggers are really well dressed but the curvy/chubby ones spend way less than their thin colleagues.	I vari blog mostrano Bloggers dalle tasche profonde e corpi magri.  ci sono anche delle Bloggers che non sono size 1 ma sono allo stesso tempo molto alla moda. Sia le blogger magre, sia quelle paffutelle normalmente ci danno indicazioni su cosa indossano e su dove acquistare i capi che compongono il loro outfit. In fin dei conti, tutte queste bloggers sono vestite davvero bene ma le formose/cicciottelle spendono molto meno delle loro colleghe magre.

In the middle there are the regular girls/bloggers (not too thick not too slim) who cannot afford clothing that expensive (really, how many of you can buy a 1.000 dollars pair of flare design jeans? Well I cannot and even if I could, I wouldn’t) but also don’t need to buy item in fancy shops/websites for plus size.	Nel mezzo ci sono le ragazze/bloggers normali non troppo magre non troppo paffute) che non si posso permettere abiti eccessivamente costosi (no, davvero, quante di voi possono comprarsi jeans a zampa firmati da 1.000 dollari al paio? beh, io non posso e anche se potessi non lo farei) ma non hanno nemmeno bisogno di acquistare i loro capi in negozi/siti per taglie grandi.
Where does that put us? Mostly at the mall wondering among the shelves and spending hours in the fitting rooms with our best friends rating our choices from “love” to “crap”.	Questo dove ci lascia?  Più che altro nei centri commerciali vagando tra gli scaffali e trascorrendo ore nei camerini di prova con la migliore amica che attribuisce ai capi che ci proviamo un punteggio da "adorabile" a "schifezza".

Straight to the issue of this post: How much do you spend for your clothing? This is quite the tricky question and the answer is “it depends”. From what you’d ask, from how comfortable you are with your body.	Per andare al nocciolo del post: quanto spendete per il vostro abbigliamento? Si tratta di una domanda complicata e la risposta è "dipende". Da cosa potrete chiedere, beh da quanto vi trovate a vostro agio con il vostro corpo.
There are a few things that aren’t cheap but are definitely worth the price like a good pair of shoes, a leather bag or jacket, a silk skirt, but when it comes to seasonal items we don’t really need to spend a small fortune over clothing that we won’t be wearing next year.	Ci sono capi tutt'altro che economici ma che valgono decisamente quello che costano come un buon paio di scarpe o una giacca o borsa di pelle, una camicetta di seta ma quando si tratta di articoli stagionali, è davvero così necessario spendere una piccola fortuna per qualcosa che  non metteremo più l'anno prossimo?

Let’s stick to seasonal clothing; let’s say we want to buy a pair of flair jeans. We go to the mall and it’s very likely we find the jeans we’d love to buy in many shops: they all look the same but the prices are really different from brand to brand and so is the quality. We don’t really care about neither of them because although it’s a seasonal item and we saved money expressly for it so we can buy just the one that suites us better. We try a few pairs and in the end we buy the jeans we like better.	Concentriamoci sui capi di tendenza: diciamo che vogliamo un paio di pantaloni a zampa. andiamo al centro commerciale e con buone probabilità, troveremo i jeans che cerchiamo in molti negozi: sembrano tutti uguali ma i prezzi sono molto diversi da marca a marca e altrettanto la qualità.  A non importa perchè nonostante sia un capo stagionale, abbiamo appositamente messo da parte un gruzzoletto e possiamo comprarci quelli che più ci aggradano.  Ne proviamo svariati ed alla fine compriamo quelli che preferiamo.

How much did we spend? As I told you before, it depends on how comfortable you are with your body.	Quanto abbiamo speso? Come ho detto prima, dipende da quanto siamo a nostro agio con il nostro corpo.
This is what I can tell you from experience: the more you like yourself the less you’ll spend (a least on a single item). If you feel comfortable in your skin  and you like the way clothing fit your body, probably you’ll find that even a cheap pair of jeans will flatter your figure so, for an item you won’t wear next year, you may decide to buy the cheap brand and, with the money left, add a shirt or two.	Per esperienza appresa vi posso dire che: più vi piacete, meno spenderete (almeno per un solo capo). Se vi sentite a vostro agio nella vostra pelle e vi piace il modo in cui i vestiti vi "cadono addosso", probabilmente scoprirete che anche un paio di jeans economici vi sta bene quindi, per un capo che probabilmente non indosserete il prossimo anno, potreste decidere di acquistare una marca economica e, con i soldi risparmiati, comprarvi una maglietta o due.
On the other hand, if you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin and subsequently in your clothing, you’ll need a well cut pair of trousers. You’ll probably opt for a tailored pair of jeans that will surely look gorgeous on you but you will spend all your money on that item.  Sadly so, people who like the way they look or simply know how to better dress for their body figure are going to spend less money.	D'altro canto, se non vi sentite a vostro agio nel vostro corpo e di conseguenza nei vestiti che indossate, opterete per un paio di jeans ben confezionati. Probabilmente ne sceglierete un paio sartoriali che vi staranno d'incanto e per i quali spenderete tutti i vostri soldi. Triste ma vero, più le persone amano il loro aspetto o che sanno come vestirsi per il loro fisico, spendono meno.
People wearing the same size often have different body figures and self-perception as do the people watching them. You may not like your round bottom while someone would.	Persone della stessa taglia spesso hanno fisici e molto diversi e percepiscono i loro corpi in modo molto diversi, così come le persone che li guardano. Mentre a te potrebbe non piacere il tuo sederino rotondo mentre a qualcuno potrebbe piacere,
I think people should love themselves the way they are or at least do something to be their own better versions, I hope I’m not alone in this.	Penso che le persone dovrebbero amarsi per come sono o almeno fare qualcosa per essere una versione migliore di loro stessi. Spero davvero di non essere la sola a pensarla così.
I know we need an objective measures but I want to tell you that if you have good care of your body, the mirror can be a friend of yours and your wallet BFF!	Lo so che abbiamo bisogno di riferimenti oggettivi ma vi voglio semplicemente dire che se avrete buona cura del vostro corpo, lo specchio può essere vostro amico e il portafoglio il vostro migliore amico.

NAIL POLISH TRENDS FOR THIS SUMMER 2016

Hi girls, by popular request, here - just for you - a post on the latest spring/summer nails’ trends. Spring is when nature flourish and let’s be honest, so do we!	Ciao ragazze, a grande richiesta per voi un nuovo post dedicato ai trend unghie per questa primavera/estate 2016. La primavera è la stagione in cui rifiorisce la natura e diciamo la verità, anche noi!
We tend to leave dark shade, so winter-y, in favor of colored clothing and fancy accessories.	Tendiamo ad abbandonare le tonalità di colore più scure, tipiche dell'inverno, a favore di capi colorati e accessori particolari.
People will also choose more sparkling colors for both make-up and manicure, getting inevitably closer  to the ultimate summer colors.	Anche per il trucco e la manicure si sceglieranno dei colori più brillanti che, immancabilmente, si avvicinano ai colori estivi per eccellenza.
As you already know (check my previous post – here) the top color for the incoming season are rose quartz and serenity: two pastel shades your nails will definitely love.	Sapete benissimo (ne ho discusso in un post in precedenza - qui) che i colori top della nuova stagione secondo Pantone sono il rosa quarzo e l’azzurro serenity due tonalità pastello che ameranno anche le vostre unghie.
Next to the gentle pastel shades (you must try the pastel yellow), we have a few evergreen nuances much loved from people who like their nails to be perfect for every occasion. Regular white, black, blue and red (maybe a nice carmine) will suite just fine for every taste or occasion.	Accanto alle delicate tinte pastello (provate anche il giallo), restano comunque le intramontabili nuances molto apprezzate da chi ama avere le unghie in ordine in tutte le stagioni e per tutte le occasioni: bianco naturale, nero, blue e rosso (magari un bel carminio)  si adatteranno a tutti i gusti ed esigenze!

BARBIE FASHIONISTAS 2016 COMES IN ALL SHAPES: CURVY, PETITE AND TALL

Hi girls, today I have news from the Barbie world.	Ciao ragazze, oggi ho notizie dal mondo di Barbie.
I grew up loving this amazing doll and even though  I played with her a lot and “she” may be the one to introduce me to fashion in the first place, it never occurred to me to think she was as far away from reality as possible.	Sono cresciuta amando questa incredibile bambola, ho giocato tanto con lei ed potrebbe essere che sia proprio "lei" ad avermi introdotta alla moda, però non mi è mai passato per la testa che lei fosse inverosimilmente lontana dalla realtà.
I mean, I was no blonde (I am still not) and I hadn’t those long legs (I don’t still) but I was 11 years old girl and Barbie made me dream I could be everything: even a 15 years old teen with long blonde curls and amazing (unrealistic) legs. I know little girls need models but they have lots of different dolls and eyes to see the world. I’m not saying it is not an unhealthy model but little girls are smarter than we think. That’s why I don’t really get why the polemics go to such an extent: it is a doll. It's perfect (is she/it?), well – guess what – she is a plastic doll, she doesn't have to hit the gym 3 times a week to stay in shape.	Voglio dire, non ero bionda (e non lo sono tuttora) e non avevo quelle gambe lunghissime (nemmeno adesso) ma ero una bambina di 11 anni e Barbie mi ha fatto immaginare di poter essere qualsiasi cosa: persino una teenager di 15 anni dai lunghi boccoli dorati e gambe (irrealistiche) pazzesche. Lo so che le ragazze hanno bisogno di modelli ma possiedono tante bambole diverse ed occhi per guardare il mondo.  Non dico che non sia un modello sbagliato ma le ragazzine sono più intelligenti di quel che crediamo.  é per questo che non capisco del tutto perchè le polemiche si spingano tanto in là: è solo una bambola. è perfetta (lo è?), beh - indovinate un pò - è una bambola di plastica, non deve andare in palestra 3 volte a settimana per restare in forma.
Don’t misunderstand me, when I played with my Barbies (which at the time were almost all blondes since the brunettes weren’t that easy to come by) I used to make them "perform" the stories I invented and I may have dreamed I was the one riding a flying horse or whatever I compelled but, at the end of the day, I knew  she was a just a doll.  I didn’t really need to look more like her or worst her to look more like me.	Non fraintendetemi, quando giocavo con le mie Barbie (che all'epoca erano quasi tutte bionde visto che quelle more non erano così facili da reperire) ero solita far "recitare" loro le storie che inventavo e potrei aver sognato di essere io a cavalcare un cavallo volante o quello che mi veniva in mente ma, alla fine dei giochi, sapevo che si trattava solo di una bambola. Non sentivo la necessità di assomigliarle o peggio che lei somigliasse a me.

Barbie was just like me to one point, we both could dress up and be everything we wanted: doctor, astronaut, actress, princess, mother, rock star…..and this may be the main reason I still love her, she allowed me to dream big.	Per una cosa Barbie ed io ci somigliavamo, potevamo entrambi metterci un costume ed essere qualsiasi cosa desiderassimo: dottore, astronauta, attrice, principessa, madre, rock star, ..... e forse è questa la ragione principale per cui ancora la adoro, lei ha fatto si che io potessi sognare in grande.
Eventually, someone decided that little girls have to aspire to be dolls-alike (really?!?) and the first version of Barbie wasn't up to this task because she was caucasian, blonde, and so on.  Since girls HAD TO identify themselves with this doll and not fantasize over a doll - whatever her skin or hair color were - in the 80s Mattel put on the market Teresa, the brunette, Christie, the afroamerican, Miko, the orientale, Midge, the redheaded. Nowadays, we also have Elisabeth, Carlie Bell, Joyce, Rosa, Grace, Asha, Christen, Kenzi, Angie, Summer, Kasandra, Kim, Nikki, Raquelle, Chandra, Miranda, Annika and Tia.  (I hope I didn't forget anyone).  The underhand manner they exacerbate this identification process creeps me out more than the fact that girls playing with dolls with a body such as Barbie could have a future complex due to the fact that they don’t realize a body like that is not humanly possible.	Alla fine, qualcuno ha deciso che le ragazzine dovessero aspirare ad assomigliare ad una bambola (ma davvero!?!) e la prima versione di Barbie non era adatta a questo compito poichè era caucasica, bionda e via dicendo. Visto che le ragazzine DOVEVANO identificarsi con questa bambola e non fantasticarci sopra - quale che fosse il colore della sua pelle o dei suoi capelli -  negli anni 80 la Mattel ha messo sul mercato Teresa, la bruna, Christie, l'afroamericana, Miko, l'orientale e Midge la rossa.  Oggi abbiamo anche Elisabeth, Carlie Bell, Joyce, Rosa, Grace, Asha, Christen, Kenzi, Angie, Summer, Kasandra, Kim, Nikki, Raquelle, Chandra, Miranda, Annika e Tia. (Spero di non essermi dimenticata nessuno). La maniera subdola con cui hanno esacerbato questo processo di identificazione mi dà i brividi più del fatto che le ragazzine che giocano con bambole con un corpo come quello di Barbie possano in futuro avere un complesso per via del fatto che non realizzano che un corpo del genere non è umanamente possibile.
To which point a doll is supposed to be a surrogate before it really hurt the kids? Barbie was (and still is) my favorite doll and I may get that black girls want black Barbies and so do brunettes but there is a difference between wanting a doll that looks more like you than one that instead of an ideal-self shows a plausible-self. My favorite Barbie was blonde but I never thought about dying my hair. I may have considered  myself as a blonde while playing with it but usually I recollected myself quite well and I was my normal brunette version at my dinner table. Sue me I’m that average sane.	Fino a che punto una bambola dovrebbe essere un surrogato prima che questo danneggi veramente i bambini? Barbie era (ed è ancora) la mia bambola preferita e posso pure capire che le bambine di colore vogliano la Barbie di colore e lo stesso vale per le bambine brune ma c'è una differenza tra il volere una bambola che ti assomigli di più e volerne una che invece di un Sè ideale mostri un Sè plausibile.  La mia Barbie preferita era bionda ma non ho mai pensato di tingermi i capelli. Mi sarei potuta considerare bionda mentre ci giocavo ma di solito a cena tornavo in me ed ero la solita versione bruna di me stessa.  Fatemene una colpa, sono pazza nella media.
Nevertheless, it seems that I have to suck it up and deal with the fact that people want Barbie to be in all colors and shapes:  Yes girls, SHAPES. I’m not talking about the face's   molds, I’m referring to the siluettes.	Comunque sia, sembra che me ne debba fare una ragione e affrontare il fatto che la gente vuole la Barbie in tutti i colori e forme: Si ragazze, FORME. Non sto parlando dello stampo del viso, mi riferisco alla siluette.
As you may know, Barbie’s body has changed over the years but in 2016 Mattel has taken a step forward.  They created 3 different body types which also come in different ethnicity.	Come probabilmente saprete, il corpo della Barbie è cambiato nel corso degli anni ma nel 2016 ha fatto un passo in avanti.  Hanno creato 3 tipi di corporatura disponibili in etnie diverse (per un totale di 33 nuove bambole).
ORIGINAL Just Barbie the way we all know and love her.	ORIGINALE Semplicemente Barbie come tutti la conosciamo ed amiamo.
CURVY You may or may not like the fact that they finally get Barbie was too thin but there is a difference between make the doll "less-unhealty-looking" and this doll. I mean, a USA size 8 (40 EU, 44 ITA) may be called curvy: this Barbie is overweight!  Her hips are just too wide: I don't think if she were human her BMI would fall under regular. She should loose a few pounds.	SINUOSA Il fatto che abbiano finalmente capito che Barbie è troppo magra può piacervi o meno ma c'è differenza tra fare una bambola dall'aspetto più salutare e questa bambola. Voglio dire, una taglia 8 USA (40 EU, 44 ITA) può essere definita rotondetta: questa Barbie è sovrappeso! I suoi fianchi sono troppo larghi: non credo che, se fosse umana, il suo IMC ricadrebbe sotto normopeso. Dovrebbe perdere qualche chiletto.
PETITE This is simply a short Barbie. It is a nice doll and I really love how they dressed her.  I think petite teen should take fashion advise from this doll. I must say tho that this doll (as her tall sister) come in different etnicity but not sizes so - if we were to read between lines -  it goes without saying that petite girls/woman are supposed to be also thin.	MINUTA Si tratta banalmente di una Barbie bassa. è una bambola graziosa e mi piace davvero tanto il modo in cui l'hanno vestita.  Credo che le adolescenti minute dovrebbero prendere a modello per lo stile questa bamboletta. Devo dire, comunque sia, che questa bambola (come la sua sorella alta) è venduta in differenti etnie ma non taglie quindi - se dovessimo leggere tra le righe - va da se che le ragazze/donne minute debbano essere magre.
TALL And finally the tall version of Barbie. In Italy we don't have this many tall women, we are mediterranean, we mostly stick to curvy (real curvy not chubby) and petite. I don't really understand the tall girls issue, maybe it's because I''d love to be a tad taller. If you have a complex  - my Barbie complained Big Jim was too short made her feel a giraffe so I had to buy her a Ken - you can always change your Big Jim for a Ken or a Barbie (depends on you) and find nicer friends.   As I already said for the petite version, they are really fashionable and if I were tall I'd take a few hints from the Barbie fashionistas collection. But again, tall for Mattel means also slim, like a top model. If you are tall you have to be skinny.	ALTA Ed infine la versione alta della Barbie. In Italia non ci sono moltissime donne alte, siamo mediterranee, abbiamo per lo più donne morbide (sinuose non paffute) e minute. Non capisco a fondo le problematiche delle ragazze alte, forse perché a me piacerebbe essere un pochino più alta.  Se avete un complesso - la mia Barbie si lamentava che Big Jim era troppo basso e la faceva sentire una giraffa così le ho dovuto comprare un Ken - potete sempre cambiare il Big Jim con un Ken oppure una Barbie (dipende da voi) e trovare amici migliori.  Come ho già detto per la versione minuta, queste bambole sono davvero alla moda e se fossi alta prenderei spunto dalla versione alta della Barbie fashionistas. E nuovamente, alta per la Mattel vuol dire magro come una top model. Se siete alte dovete essere magre.
Of course it is only a general cathegorization, human bodies come in all shapes and confines are blurry but they are trying......maybe in a few years we'll have the curvy version of the petite and the tall ones.  Or maybe, they could sell the apple, pear, banana - and all the fruit salad - version of Barbie's body because God forbid a 10 years old girl could dream she is (or will be) perfect.  Bottom line, if you are chubby, or smaller/taller than your friends, well it is your lucky day: Mattel as a new brand Barbie just for you.	Naturalmente si tratta si una categorizzazione molto generica, i corpi umani si presentano in tutte le forme ed i confini sono piuttosto sfocati ma ci stanno provando ..... forse entro pochi anni avremo la versione curvy della  bambola alta e di quella bassa.  O forse, potrebbero mettere in vendita la versione mela, pera, banana - e tutti i frutti della macedonia - del corpo di Barbie perché, il cielo non voglia, una bambina di 10 anni possa sognare di essere (o essere in futuro) perfetta.  Morale della favola, se sei paffuta, o più minuta/alta delle tue amiche, beh è il tuo giorno fortunato: la Mattel ha una bambola tutta per te.
If I forget about the fact that they are preventing kids from dreaming, there are two things I like of this dolls thought.	Se metto da parte il fatto che stanno tarpando le ali della fantasia della bambine, ci sono due cosette di queste bambole che invece mi piacciono.
1 -   This terrifying Barbie dolls show that everything come in different shapes.	1 - Queste terrificanti bambole Barbie mostrano che tutto è presente in forme diverse.
2 – It doesn’t matter if you are a curvy, petite or tall doll: you are a Barbie and you’ll be fashionable no matter what.	2 - Non importa se sei rotondetta, minuta oppure alta: sei una Barbie e sarai sempre e comunque alla moda.
Anyhow, at least it sends the bittersweet message that there is a chance still for girls who are a bit far from the average US teen.	Comunque sia, per lo meno manda il messaggio dolce-amaro che c'è speranza per le ragazze che non sono propriamente nella media della tipica adolescente americana.
Little girls grow up and toss their dolls in a box but there are still Barbie dolls out there on the magazines, billboards,  catalogues, in the movie you just saw at the theatre. I really hope that growing up knowing that even Barbie can be a little thick on the bottom, petite or tall will make little girls' future selves more confident and even though their classmates are bitches and they want to be like the girl all your boyfriends (meanings friends who are boys) fancy so much, they'll think of the Barbie example and you'll be ok.  I really doubt that but a girl can dream.....oh, sorry she can't because if she is petite or anything different from average she has to deal with it since primary school!	Le ragazzine crescono e mettono da parte in una scatola le loro bambole ma ci sono ancora delle Barbie lì fuori sulle riviste, cartelloni pubblicitari, cataloghi, nel film appena visto al cinema.  Io spero davvero che crescere sapendo che anche Barbie è un pochino pienotta sui fianchi, minuta o alta faccia sì da grandi le bambine di oggi un domani siano più sicure di se e anche se le compagne di classe sono perfide e loro vorrebbero essere come la ragazza a cui tutti gli amici fanno il filo,  penseranno alla Barbie e si sentiranno meglio.  Ne dubito fortemente ma una ragazza può sognare ..... ah, no aspetta, non può perché se è minuta o qualsiasi cosa differente dalla media ci deve fare i conti fino dalla scuola elementare!
Please, let kids dreams, especially little girls because we always long for models and in due time they will search for new idols. Do not fool ourselves, the models who are not made in plastic  are the most dangerous ones. Can't we just let them know that body shapes can be good looking no matter what?  Are you petite?  Vanessa Hudgens is petite and  she is a real doll (pun intended).  Are you tall?
