WHAT IF YOU ARE INVITED TO A FORMAL BUT NOT TOO FORMAL EVENT? MY TIPS FOR A SEMI-FORMAL VERNISSAGE.

Welcome back to my tips on style. Yesterday I went to see a vernissage. It was a little exhibition of a colleague of mine and it was not a formal event. How to dress for a social glamorous but not too formal event? It occurred to me that late fall and winter are bitches when it comes to dress up for such a thing. On summer or spring I'd easily chosen a dress from my closet, accessorized it with an extravagant pair of shoes and statement jewelry and I'd be ok in no time. Winter means layer up (a lot) and it's not easy to be look good or be fashionable when you're all bundled up.	Ed ancora una volta benvenute ai miei suggerimenti di stile. Ieri sono andata ad una personale di pittura. Era una mostra di una mia collega e non si trattava di un evento formale. Come vestirmi per un evento sociale glamour ma non troppo formale? Mi sono resa conto che fine autunno e l’inverno sono due periodi veramente infami quando bisogna vestirsi per un’occasione del genere. Se fosse stata primavera oppure estate, avrei facilmente scelto un vestito dal mio armadio, lo avrei accessoriato con delle scarpe stravaganti e dei gioielli d’impatto ed avrei ben presto risolto la questione. Inverno invece è sinonimo di vestirsi a strati (tanti strati) e non è semplice apparire eleganti quando siamo tutte infagottate.
So, what should I be wearing for my not too formal vernissage? I found out that  the better choice would probably be a pair of colored trousers or jeans (it depends on how many degrees are you dealing with) and a nice blouse. A cardigan (better if matched with a tiny belt) and a long necklace would do it. I won't suggest you to put on statement necklaces, you may were a scarf and they tend to ruin scarfs...... Also, if you want to wear bold colors, remember cold seasons call for dark color, so use neutral tones and add one bold color item, you can match it with accessories but be carefully not to exaggerate!	Quindi cosa mi sarei dovuta mettere per il mio vernissage non troppo formale? Mi sono resa conto che la scelta migliore erano paio di pantaloni oppure jeans colorati (a seconda della temperatura che dovete affrontare) ed una blusa graziosa. Un cardigan (magari con un cintina abbinata) ed una collana lunga per finire. Non raccomando le collane vistose, potreste avere necessità di indossare una sciarpa e tendono a rovinarle. Inoltre, se volete osare con colori audaci, ricordate che le stagioni fredde vogliono colori scuri, quindi scegliete colori neutri ed aggiungete un indumento dal colore eccentrico, da completare con accessori abbinati, attente però a non esagerare.

Di seguito alcuni abbinamenti elegantini ma non troppo formali che ho trovato in rete e che – spero – vi ispireranno un outfit grazioso nel caso in cui foste invitate ad un evento come quello a cui ho partecipato io ieri. Ho diviso gli outfit per stagione.
WINTER
In case you don’t know if the room is electric-heated, layer up with style and pick a fancy coat.	Se non sapete se la sala è termo-autonoma, vestitevi a strato con stile e scegliete un bel cappotto.
SPRING
Time to be romantic. Don’t forget long skirts and accessorize as you like.	Tempo di essere romantiche. Non dimenticate le gonne lunghe e accessoriatevi come preferite.
SUMMER
Remember: if you show your legs don’t overdo your neckline. For events such as this one I suggest pastel colors.	Ricordatevi di non esagerare con la scollatura se scoprite le gambe. Per eventi di questo genere, suggerisco colori pastello.
FALL
This season should be called mix and match. Not too cold and not too warm, the weather allows you to match styles and colors belonging to other seasons and come up with dilly outfits.	Questa stagione dovrebbe essere chiamata mix and match. Non troppo fredda eppure non troppo calda, il clima permette di combinare stili e colori appartenenti ad altre stagioni ed ottenere outfit favolosi.

Go for a black dress and accessorize it depending on the season.	Optate per un vestito nero ed accessoriatelo a seconda della stagione.
